Céline Zimmer is an architect and researcher from Luxembourg. She studied architecture in Trier and Hamburg. For her master's thesis "1 zu 1", she and a fellow student built a wooden pavilion. The work consisted of designing the pavilion, organizing and finding funding for it, and actually building it, including the deconstruction and reuse of materials from a church that was about to be demolished.

During her doctoral studies at the University of Luxembourg, she worked on several research projects, including the call for tender "Luxembourg in Transition". Together with César Reyes, she contributed to the Oslo Architecture Triennial 2022 with the project "The 10 sqm CO-OP", proposing a bold pedagogical experiment consisting in the creation of a cooperative during the exhibition.

In December 2023 she successfully defended her PhD dissertation „Ein dritter Wohnungssektor für Luxemburg - Emanzipation von Markt und Staat in der Wohnversorgung“, in which she explored the housing crisis in Luxembourg and developed concrete alternatives to alleviate it.

Florian Hertweck

Florian Hertweck is an architect with more than 20 years of practice in architecture and urban design at various scales. He holds a PhD in the history of arts and is full professor at the University of Luxembourg, where he chairs the master programme in architecture (www.masterarchitecture.lu).

In 2018 he curated, together with Andrea Rumpf, the Luxembourg Pavilion for the 16th Architecture Biennial in Venice. More recently, he co-curated the exhibition The Great Repair, which has been shown at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin and at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal. He also co-edited the accompagnying ARCH+ issues no 250 and 253.

From 2018 to 2020, Hertweck developed together with Milica Topalovic from ETH Zurich and a consortium of researchers and planners a territorial design strategy for Greater Geneva 2050. From 2021 to 2023 he led an interdisciplinary team for the development of socio-ecological prospects for the call for tender "Luxembourg in Transition 2050".

Before creating Less yellow, he practiced at Studio Hertweck in Luxembourg and at Hertweck Devernois Architectes Urbanistes SARL in Versailles, both as managing partner. The projects of both offices have been largely published and awarded.
